Car shipment is something that many people choose for moving their vehicle from one destination to another. You must take time to ensure you hire the right company to transport your vehicle but you must also know how to best prepare your automobile for shipment.

If you don't prepare your vehicle for shipment than there could be problems on the day of the transfer to the transport company or during transport but by preparing your automobile ahead of time you will be able to avoid problems.

Below is what you should do to get your vehicle prepared for being transported.

1. Note any damages or flaws - Always take time to go over your vehicle before giving it over to the transport company. Be sure to wash it first so they will be easily noticeable.

Write down any flaws or damages inside and outside the automobile so that you can make sure there are no further damages when you get your vehicle back. It is always a good idea to take pictures so you have further documentation if there are problems when you get your automobile.

2. Personal belongings - Always be sure that you remove any personal belongings that you have in your vehicle. This includes important papers and documents and anything else you have in there.

Not only can your belongings do damage to the car during transport but they can also be stolen. Your automobile is protected by the transport company but any belongings that are in it are not.

3. Choose mode of transport - Before you give your vehicle to a transport company you have to make sure that you choose the right mode of transport. Each company has different options available so be sure to ask about all your options before making your decision.

4. Tires and battery - Be sure your tires are properly inflated and that your battery is charged. Also be sure that you only have a ¼ tank of gas to reduce the weight of the vehicle.

5. Rules and regulations - Before giving a transport company your vehicle you need to make sure that the rules and regulations are agreeable by you and the company. If they are not agreeable with you then time to talk to the company about them before giving them your vehicle.

Now that you know how to best prepare your vehicle for car shipment; all that remains is to get it done right. Don't give the transport company your automobile until you have done your part and taken steps to make sure that your vehicle will get to your final destination safely.
