Oh, no. It is what we all fear. You come home and your front door is standing wide open. Or you get a call from the office security personnel who inform you that the Finance Department door has been jimmied, and petty cash is missing. What you need to do is secure your belongings from more threats. You need to get the locks changed on all doors immediately. The first thought will be, "who do I call"? It is always good to have a trusted locksmith on hand before you need them. Now is not the time to be traveling through the phone book trying to find a reputable locksmith. There are multiple ways to protect not only valuables, but areas that need to be secured from unauthorized personnel in an office setting. Access Control Systems can be controlled by PIN codes or ID cards. They also eliminate keys, can be programmed for multiple users, and provide date and time reports on access. The systems can be programmed for lock and unlock schedules. According to the FBI, non-confrontational property crimes (burglaries) occur every 15.4 seconds, most occur during the daytime, and 70% involve the use of force to gain entry (according to Crime Doctor). A locksmith can act as a security consultant to assess and recommend the most effective, efficient ways to secure valuables. Good perimeter lighting, motion detection lighting systems, and highly visible entryways might be recommended by a locksmith, as burglars look for unoccupied homes with easy access. Don't forget to secure the garage. Garage doors are often an easy access into a home. A 24-hour locksmith with mobile service can assist with car lock-outs.
