4 Ways To Stop Your Skin Getting Burned

Sunburn is one of the biggest causes of skin cancer, and therefore it is essential not to get burned too badly. Whether you like to relax under a fabric shade or wear a lot of clothes, here are some ideas to save your skin.

1. Stay In The Shade

It may seem obvious but preventing the sun's ultra-violet rays from burning your skin in the first place is a very clear way of ensuring that you don't get burned. You can stay indoors or even recline under the leaves of a tree and this will keep your skin from turning red. There are many ways of doing this in hot weather, but it's just important to be aware of just how sun-proof the shade is that you are using as it's not unheard of that people have been burned while lying under an umbrella.

2. Wear Sensible Clothing

When it's hot it can often be tempting to put some shorts and a t-shirt or vest or even go topless completely for a more comprehensive tan, however this leads to a much higher risk of getting a sunburn and then possibly skin cancer.

By wearing long trousers made of light materials or a hat you can protect much more of your skin without becoming uncomfortably hot. There are plenty of ways to dress in this manner and many of them are very stylish.

3. Put On Some Sunscreen

British people especially can be rather gung-ho about wearing sunscreen but it's an important thing to do when on holiday abroad. The British tourist can be stereotyped at the end of their holiday as being bright pink with unsightly sun lines on various part of his or her body. While this can be embarrassing the consequences of such carelessness can be much more serious than looking a bit ridiculous as skin cancer can be very possible.

4. Keep Putting On Sunscreen

At the risk of sounding like a commercial for sunscreen, you must keep putting sunscreen back on. It can come off when you go for a dip in the water, which is what we often enjoy doing when in holiday to jump in the pool to cool down or simply for a bit of exercise. We can also sweat the stuff off, which is very possible when we're out in the hot sun for a few hours.

5. Stay In the Shade

It seems obvious, but if you relax beneath a fabric awning, stretching above you, it means that the sun won't get through and you won't suffer any burnt skin. Often beautiful, they can offer so much comforting shade.

Clearly there are many ways to combat sunburn so there's no excuse not to follow one of them and find yourself with pink skin.
