How To Create The Illusion Of Luxury

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=92
By : Debra Smith

Everyone wants to live in luxury, often because that is what we are told we want by companies selling goods and services that claim to be luxurious. Here are a few ideas to help create the illusion of luxury.

1. Congregate With Like-Minded Individuals

Often acting the part can mean that you will eventually become the person you aspire to be. It's not uncommon, for example, in sales companies for managers to encourage their staff to live as lavishly as possible so as to spend as much money as possible and therefore need to earn commission to maintain their lifestyle. It's pretty underhand but often works for the company.

While needing to live life like this is of course very different from wanting to, it can sometimes be an idea to hang around with high achievers because although your cost of living may go up as they don't take the cheapest option, it may get you into a successful mind set. Or it could bankrupt you.

2. Looking For Bargains

There's a reason why there are huge queues outside the most aspirational brand's department stores when they announce a sale, and that is because shoppers like to get hold of the items at a knockdown rate. There's a famous episode where Marge finds a Channel suit in a charity store, and so you shouldn't be above looking in just the obvious places if you want to appear like this.

If you do decide to go to a large store to buy something expensive then don't be above haggling. You would never pay top dollar for a car and so there's no reason why you would pay that for a handbag. See it is a challenge and think of inventive ways to get the discount. This does not include stealing it.

3. Increase the Size of Your House

This doesn't mean sticking an extension on the side or buying a new place where you can't pay the mortgage, but there are a few ways you can make your house seem a little larger to guest.

One such trick is to paint your ceilings darker than your walls as this will make them appear taller, or you can hand a stretch fabric from them to obscure their true height. It is often fashionable amongst the wealthy to use indoor fabric architecture and by careful use of these materials you can create a house that, internally at least, looks very expensive.

So you see there are plenty of ways of living the dream rather than just paying through the nose for it, be clever and be wise and you can achieve this.
