Men's wholesale clothing distributors fill a very important position in the clothing retail chain. Without them, many small retailers will be totally stranded. Let's briefly examine their role in the system. If you have a clothing store or even if you are a stall holder, you need to get your inventory from somewhere. It will be very cumbersome to visit every factory yourself and try to negotiate a deal with them. Most of the time they will simply not be interested in your order size anyway. A further problem is that many products are imported. There is no way a large exporter in China will be convinced to send a couple of items to a store owner - these guys deal in large quantities, normally container loads. The benefit for the retailer is that he has a large variety of items to choose from, all under one roof. This variety aspect alone makes it worthwhile for the store owner to purchase from a wholesaler. Because the wholesaler buys large quantities of clothing from the manufacturer with every single purchase, he can negotiate a much better price than a small buyer would be able to do. This discount is often his profit and the retailer therefore buys the item at a price that he would never have been able to get elsewhere. Often wholesalers will provide credit to retailers that have been buying from them for a certain time. If you as a retailer can arrange such a line of credit, you could probably sell the item even before you have to pay for it. This means none of your own money will be tied up in inventory. Even if you have a specialized order, such as a customer that wants a few hundred T-shirts with his company logo, your clothing wholesaler could well be able to help you. These guys often have a close working relationship with so-called cut, make and trim (CMT) manufacturers who are able to fulfill custom orders. Buying from men's wholesale clothing distributors therefore makes a lot of sense for a retailer.
