Card Printers Improve The Printing Process

By : William Gabriel

The card printers of today are vastly different from the printers of yesterday. Technology has allowed for these printers to offer numerous options that were once thought impossible or too expensive to produce. Modern printers have single and dual sided printing capabilities. Identification cards can be produced in color or monochrome. Some printers offer edge to edge printing options that eliminate the useless white trim around your card. There are also printers that offer instant lamination for the protection of your cards and still others that have Holokote imaging that makes the cards virtually tamper resistant. In addition, there are printers that can produce encoded smart cards that offer more options and features than ever before.

Although there are still those businesses and organizations that continue to outsource to third parties in order to accomplish their card printing needs; many more are crossing the information highway and implementing their very own printing process so that they can print quality cards almost instantly, on the spot and when they need them. Some people shy away from card printers because they thing they are hard to learn and operate. This is not true. Actually, the portable printer of today is very user friendly. Moments after a printer is removed from a box it can be producing excellent ID cards for the user. Other business leaders and organization leaders fear the printers are too expensive. That of course depends on the allowed budget and what features and options the user is looking for.

There are many varieties of printers on the market. Some are basic photo ID card printers without all the special features; while others are jammed pack full of options galore. Once again; if your company consists of 2 employees'; a printer may not be necessary. However, larger companies and organizations can gain an abundance of benefits from printers. Most card printers today usually belong to a line designed to meet the needs of any size business. These printers vary in price and can be more cost friendly than some people think. The prospective user cannot look simply at the present when purchasing a printer. They have to look at the future savings and benefits as well. Over a years time; many identification cards may have to be produced for new employees or member and replacement cards will have to be produced as well. When outsourcing, this can get quite expensive.

Furthermore, some companies have more needs than the basic identification card. Modern card printers today gives more options for the user. Some companies want to print and encode their own identification cards for attendance monitoring purposes. Card readers can be placed at the workplace entrance and employees will have to swipe their card to punch in and out. This provides the management with attendance information that will form reports on bad attendance habits. In addition, many facilities want to utilize the access control process. Card readers are placed at the entrances of sensitive areas within the facility and employee ID cards are programmed to allow or deny entrance based on the need to know. The needs vary from company to company. The bottom line is quite simple; these printers can improve the card printing process.
