The rustic, bunkhouse look is easy to achieve in any bedroom in your house with a southwest bedspread. It is not surprising that this style is very popular all over the country. There is no reason not to enjoy the southwest style wherever you live. A southwest bedspread will add a bold splash of color to your bedroom, and will accent the furnishings, especially those with a southwestern slant. The geometric designs perfected by Native Americans on their pottery and cliff art have been transferred to these beautiful bedspreads. Putting a southwest bedspread on your bed will bring life and color to the room.

Native Americans were inspired to create the geometric patterns provided by the desert landscape in many of their art forms. Taken by these native people and put onto their pottery and other art forms, was the stunning palette of colors displayed on the buttes and mesas as the sun crossed the sky. Sand paintings, created for healing ceremonies, were also the basis for many of these designs. The intense colors of their surroundings was produced in their fine embroidery.

This art and these colors have now been woven into high quality southwest bedspreads. They will create warmth and joy in any bedroom. There is a southwest bedspread that will meet your expectations no matter what color scheme you plan on incorporating into your bedroom. These bedspreads are available in both queen and king size. The soft browns, creams, burnished reds, and sage greens are reflected in the more muted bedspreads, blending into the furnishings and walls of your home. A little use of color in the pattern shows off the personality of the bedspread. When the background of the desert is first touched by the warm sun, these are the colors created.

Turquoise, so beloved of Native Americans of the southwest, can be found providing a background for some of the bolder patterned bedspreads. The turquoise color blended into the bedspread hues will be appreciated by many who base their decor on Navajo culture. Both the bands of color and the geometric shapes create a spectacular bedspread. This will be a dramatic type of color scheme for your bedroom and will make your bed the center of attention.

Many other geometric patterns, all based on Native American pottery and art, can be found incorporated into southwestern bedspread designs. Choosing a different bedspread for every bedroom will carry the southwest theme throughout your home with the wide range of colors and patterns available. To really lend a bunkhouse look to a bedroom, bedspreads featuring running horses can also be found. Placing a bedspread based on southwest designs on your bed will help to coordinate the southwestern decor of your bedroom and at the same time, add color and character to the room.
