Being well dressed takes time and isn't easy. Gentlemen respect each other when they notice how much effort someone has put into having clean shoes, or a starched shirt. These details are important in everyday interaction, they can be the impressive features that win you that job, or that get you that date. Follow these tips to be the best dressed you can be. 1.Clothing Diversity: You don't need to have a closet full of suits to be well dressed. Drawing a lot of attention to yourself is unnecessary, just look nice and people will notice you. That said, you can have two suits, four dress shirts, four ties, and two pairs of shoes for 64 different outfits. Interchanging your clothing is important. You want classic styles over fashionable trends. 2.Make sure it fits: Even if you are wearing a gorgeous suit, if it is too big, you will look silly. If it is too small, you may look even worse. Investing in the right size clothing, whether the first time you buy it, or paying a tailor to hem and alter it, is the best idea. 3.Take your time: Building a gorgeous wardrobe can take a decade. You want to invest in quality that will last, even if it does set you back at the beginning. For example, don't buy three cheap dress shirts that look okay, buy one that looks great. You will feel better about wearing it, and it will last longer anyway. You probably won't be able to afford 4 great dress shirts right off the bat; that could cost a thousand dollars; buy one at a time. Speaking of dress shirts, the first three you buy should be white or a shade of blue and solid. Essential Items Suit: a nice suit is imperative to any closet. Dark, well-fitting, and classically styled. Charcoal, medium grey, navy blue, or black if you are dark completed. Avoid double breasted, patterned suits because these are easily memorable and hard to dress down. Shoes: Black. For your second pair, brown. The latter can be worn with anything except a black tie. Slip ons are great for travel. Shine and polish them when you need to; weatherproof them if you deal with rain or snow. Casual shoes don't have to be sneakers – suede or saddle shoes are great to wear and rotate so they don't get too much use. Belt: It should match your shoes. Brown with brown, black with black, dress with dress. And metal with metal. The thinner the band and buckle, the more formal. Jeans: The darker the more formal, which is something to take note of especially in recent years as the pairing of a blazer with denim is particularly fashionable. Accessories: Hats often come in and out of style, but a classic panama for summer events or a dark fedora for winter is a good bet. Watches are a great addition to any wardrobe, especially if it is a Concord Mariner watch, Bulova wrist watch or something equivalent.
