Cloud hosting has been around for a few years now but it looks set to really become popular now. There are those who have been concerned about data security but this has not proven to be as much of a risk as was anticipated. As it has become apparent that the benefits far outweigh the risks it is likely that there will be a much greater shift toward its use. Here are some of the top reasons to choose a UK cloud host. Unlike anything that has been available up until now there is much less direct control over your data because it is not located on a single server to which you have access. This might seem like a down side to cloud computing since there is certain information that you will not be able to retrieve. If it is properly managed by the provider this will not be a problem for you and in fact will make things much easier in the end. A good analogy for cloud hosting is to compare it to how we use electricity. At the turn of the last century if a company wanted to use electricity they had to generate their own, much like companies up till now had to manage their own IT infrastructure. Just as electricity production became more centralized and users just had to purchase what they needed it is not inconceivable that in the future all computer resources will be used in the same way. This creates several advantages. Previously a company had to invest in its own hardware. This is both very costly and very difficult to scale up and down. They can now scale up and down almost instantly and there is no initial investment cost. There is also no risk of your infrastructure becoming redundant and requiring upgrading or expansion. There are also much greater costs associated with maintaining your own system. Very often only 10% will be used so you would have to invest in a lot of infrastructure which will only be used during peak times. At the same time it will still be using electricity all the time. Pooling these resources leads to much better efficiency and cost effectiveness. There is the worry that your data might not be as safe if it is not stored on your own dedicated server that you control. In reality your information might actually be much more secure when you are using cloud hosting because more resources are dedicated to security and it is much more actively managed. In the UK however you have the added benefit of the most advanced legal framework to protect your data. They also offer data recovery in the event of a major system crash. It is very unlikely that information can be easily lost because it is generally duplicated in at least 9 different locations but at least you will have the assurance that this problem will actually be taken care of since you don't have direct access to do it yourself. Not only will a company benefit from not having to invest in their own infrastructure but the number of IT professionals they will have to employ will be drastically reduced. Cloud hosting is much easier to control and UK service providers even offer various options for OS, control panels and virtualization. All in all you will save money, time and effort.
