Company Fleet Insurance Provider Gives Unbiased Review Of BMW Series 1

Car sales increased in the UK by 10.8% in June 2010 and a UK company fleet insurance provider has decided to provide you with a series of unbiased fleet car reviews suited both for individuals as well as fleet managers. This first one is a review for the BMW 1 Series.

Driving the BMW 1 Series
The 1 Series has a very good driving position, sitting lower than most but very comfortable. Radio controls and standard Trip Computer all easily accessible through controls on or around the steering wheel. The diesel engine is a particular highlight with excellent acceleration, top speed and excellent fuel economy (regularly returning 50mpg+). The steering is excellent, immediate and light enough to be comfortable but with enough weight in the control to feel the car's movement. The suspension isn't as forgiving as others but this may be down to the run flat tyres that are standard with all BMW's now. All the above coupled with a very good stereo, climate control, a number of airbags around the cabin ad remote locking makes this an excellent drivers car.

The BMW 1 Series as A Fleet Car
The main desired features for a Fleet Car, as I see them, are low emissions (for lower tax), fuel efficiency and a very comfortable drive regardless of distance. The BMW 1 Series enjoys all of these qualities and more. Service costs aren't the cheapest but being a BMW, the depreciation will not be as high as similar class vehicles. A diesel would be recommended, paying the same emissions tax as a small 1.2 petrol car and note, there is no sacrifice of engine performance when opting for any of the excellent BMW diesel engines.

Passengers and Luggage
The interior is spacious, comfortable for 4 adults with the ability to take 5. The boot isn't the biggest so if you plan to regularly fit 5 suitcases in the boot, another car may be required. For all other use this car is very comfortable, and the interior is a stylish. Despite the boot not being as large as other comparable sized vehicles, there are 60/40 splitting rear seats opening up to the larger interior.

Security and Safety
The 1 Series enjoys side airbags and ABS as standard which allows a confidence in the safety of the car. With an alarm as standard, an automatic self lock when traveling over 10mph and immobilizer, this car is as safe and secure as they come.

BMW 1 Series at a Glance
- Excellent driving position
- 1.8 litre engine
- High quality, high performing engines
- Excellent power steering
- Remote control locking
- High quality stereo system
- Driver, passenger and side airbags
- Quality, reliable, solid drive

- Low running costs
