It is the general opinion that faster internet connection provides more exciting experience. The statement is true as you will be able to open more sites in lesser time by using faster internet connection and thereby you will be more satisfied. Since the bandwidth of the network is an important factor to determine the speed of the internet connection, many people would like have a larger bandwidth. However bandwidth prices increase with the size of the bandwith you go for a factor that hinders many people from obtaining larger bandwidths for their internet connections. The internet connectivity depends upon the IP data transit which increases with the size of bandwidth

Knowing the distinction between full global IP transit and partial transit is crucial as this will enable one to cut on bandwidth cost thus saving a lot of money. Going for a partial transit would primarily mean that you choose to use a smaller bandwidth thus getting the internet browsing performance a bit wobbly. Partial IP transit, on the one hand, is made for those with budget conscious users as they are relatively cheaper than the other, thus letting you save on internet cost. The reason behind this is that Internet Service Providers catering to partial transit subscribers more often than not do peering, thus, allowing them acquire and sell routes.

There is however different routing protocols that can be used when it comes to IP transit. One of the most frequently used routing protocols are the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Rip Information Protocol (RIP). Rip Information Protocol is mostly used for smaller networks and is beneficial because it first and foremost prevents loops in routing due to the fact that it has hop limits and secondly because it has mechanisms in place that do not allow propagation of incorrect information or data in routing. Also, RIP is effortlessly capable of recognizing loops.

The hop limits found in RIP are fit for small-sized networks where majority of the users may find it not matching with their own day-to-day internet needs. Through these shortcomings, OSPF can be opted for by large-sized networks as this can efficiently provide the services they need.

Both RIP and OSPF are categorized as interior routing protocols, which only mean that they are only limited to exchange of data amidst networks and routers.

When looking into routing protocols for exterior purposes meaning transfer of data across the internet itself, the routing protocol that carries out this task is the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). If you tend to cater to a lot of users who would simultaneously connect to the internet, then BGP is a highly useful tool for you. Multi-homing will boost the performance of your internet connection as there are several paths available to users, and a difficulty in one path will not affect other users' browsing experience.

Considering the kind of network one wants to put in place, the speed of internet connectivity you would prefer and the bandwidth price one will be capable paying is the best way to decide upon which routing protocol is appropriate for you.
