In a workplace today, you will see many different types of chairs. Each kind represents a different need within the workplace and is necessary for things to go smoothly. Some employees need a particular type of chair because of the work they do each day. Work chairs come in many materials, colors and features. Here are some basic work chairs that are used today. Drafting stool - the drafting stool is a chair that is used with drafting tables. It is padded with four legs. Most drafting stools are not adjustable, but a heavy duty drafting chair may have extra features. Most standard drafting stools so do not have a back, but some do. These chairs have a swivel feature, making it easy for workers to move easily while working on their drawings. The heavy duty chairs have bigger legs, a wider seat and are more durable. These standard chairs may have limited colors and styles as they are considered a work chair. The color and style is not usually very important to a draftsman. Desk chair/Task chair - This is the chair most often used in the office of employees. These chairs generally swivel and are adjustable. There are many different types of adjustments depending on the chair. The back, height, lean of the chair, space between the seat and back and ability to move the seat forward are some adjustments in a desk chair. These chairs are usually on rollers, making it easy to move about as needed. They are usually made with a simple hydraulic seating mechanism so that when sitting down, there is not the rigid feel, but a softer feeling. These chairs are usually made in a variety of colors and styles and vary greatly in price range. Conference chairs - These chairs are one of most comfortable of all office chairs. They come in a variety of colors and are made of plush material. Their purpose is to provide a comfortable seat while people sit over a table or in a group and discuss business problems, ideas, and goals. These chairs don't usually have as many adjustments, but usually have a wider seat and large back. They usually have armrests and rollers on the legs. Most offices will have their conference chairs in meetings rooms where people can comfortably get together and discuss things about the business. Stackable chairs - Stackable chairs are made to conserve room when they are not in use. They are usually durable, but may not be as comfortable or plush as some other types of chairs. They are usually purchased in large quantities and can be used for large meetings, cafeterias or other rooms where many people need to be seated. The chairs can then be stacked after the events to save room for other activities. These chairs come in a variety of colors and don't usually have arm rests. Think about the features you will want as you consider the type of chair you will need. Are you most concerned with space, comfort, style or adjustable features? As you consider these things, you will quickly be able to make a good choice as to what type of chair you need in your office.
