At one time companies would send out all of their printing needs to other companies to get done. This cost them added expense. But in recent years; there are more and more companies choosing to buy cards printers and do the printing themselves. They have discovered how beneficial it is to have these printers in their office. For one they use the printer as a badge printer. This printer makes employee badges. These badges are used for several reasons at the business. The first reason is for clocking in and out on time clocks. The card either has a magnetic strip or a barcode on them. The card is either scanned or slid through the clock. The time is automatically sent to a computer. If an employer wants to check when an employee clocked in or out all they have to do is look on the computer. They have found that this is so much easier then doing all of the time cards by hand. Also the badge printer can add special features onto the cards. They can add photos. They can also add security features. These features do several things. For one they will allow or deny employees access to certain rooms. This is a great feature if there are high security rooms in your place of business. Another feature the printer can add is security marks. These marks keep anyone from altering the cards. These cards printers can also be used for other reasons in businesses. If you have a retail store they can make gift cards. These cards are bought by customers. They customer loads the amount of money that they want added to the card. They can then give them out as gifts and that person can bring them back to the store and spend them. These printers can also make membership cards. These cards again are for retail stores. This is when someone has to have a card to enter the store. Or they have to have a membership card to get special discounts off at the store. There are a lot of things that these printers can do. It alls depends on what kind of printers and software they are using. It is definitely important that a company knows exactly what they want to use the printer for before they go out and buy one. They need to decide certain things. First of all they need to decide if they want photos on the cards. Then they need to decide if they want these cards to be printed on one side or on both sides. Another consideration that must be made is what kind of security that you want added to the cards if any. Only after the business has decided exactly what they want should they go buy a printer. This will help in making sure they are buying a printer that will work well with their company. Also a printer is not something that should be bought cheap. They need to buy a high quality printer so it will last them longer and do all they need it to do.
