Are You a Money Avoider? 4 Steps to Make a Lot of Change

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=140

Are you working your tushie off - always going, going, going and never getting anywhere?

Are you doing everything you can to grow your business or move up the corporate ladder yet are stuck on pause?

Are you uncomfortable or anxious when discussing money with your partner?

Are your bills paid at late or at the last minute?

Are your financial and business (revenue generating) documents disorganized?

Do you wake up in the middle of the night worrying about your financial future?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you may be a money avoider.

Avoidance to money is not the same as not liking or wanting money. Avoidance usually means an underlying fear or threat. Since money itself is just currency - just small pieces of paper or digits in a computer - how can someone be afraid of money?

Money avoiders have an underlying belief around money that thwarts any positive sustaining financial gain.

Money Brings Bad Stuff

When money is associated with negative emotions typically birthed in childhood trauma, money can be seen as something evil. Examples include:

- Parents fighting over money issues

- Dysfunctional affluent upbringing

- Buying into over generalized statements such as "Rich people just step on the little people."

- Eat (consume) everything; there are poor people starving in China.

- I'm not (worthy, talented, good) enough.

Think back to when you were growing up. What personal experiences do you recall - good or bad - that relate to money and finances? The answer to that question will shed light on how you think about money at your deepest core.

One of my clients discovered she associated money with safety. Since she believed the world was unsafe and she could never be safe, she wanted nothing to do with creating security for herself.

Generating and sustaining a healthy flow of wealth simply exceeds the comfort zone of some people. We tend to avoid what makes us uncomfortable. The more we avoid the deeper into the money pit we go, no matter how hard we keep ourselves busy to get out of it. Throwing money at the problem doesn't help either!

Here are 4 Steps To Make A Lot of Change:

1. Be Willing

Allow yourself to reach for a new perspective. For example, if you discover an inner belief that money is the root of evil deliberately look for evidence where money has served the greater good. There are plenty of philanthropic efforts and results to consider as you reframe your beliefs around money.

2. Clear Your Financial Clutter

Get your financial documents in order. Pay your bills or make promises to pay bills through a payment plan. Honor your promises. Get clear on your monthly overhead and revenue. Cut out waste. Look for additional relevant income streams, if appropriate.

3. Move Forward

Throughout your day ask yourself if the task at hand will get you closer or farther away from your financial goals. Are you busy killing time or making hay?

4. Get in Alignment

Mindfully think, speak and act in the direction of the abundant life you long to enjoy. Handle any thoughts that fly in the face of what you want to create. Notice your conversations. Are they negative or positive? Before you act, check to see if your choice is in harmony with good money vibes. If so, ACT? If not, see #1!

Instead of Finding Excuses And Reasons (F.E.A.R.) why you aren't attracting wealth open your heart (LOVE) to receiving what is your birthright. You are a creator. You are here to create, share and enjoy a rich delicious life.
