When they first came along, vacuum pack sealers were nothing less than a food storage revelation, and there is still no better way to keep meats from going to waste due to freezer burn. However, these machines can also help a lot of different foods - as well as non-food items - stay fresh and preserved, and this can be a great way for businesses to display their products and cut down on waste. Vacuum pack sealers greatly extend the shelf life of just about any consumer product, as shown by the commonly seen vacuum packing on most meats and cheeses. However, there are also different types of machines that inject a small amount of safe, inert gas into the package that can help protect softer items that might otherwise be crushed. This is also helpful for products that either don't thrive in a vacuum environment, or whose shelf life will be extended if it is kept out in a non-oxygenated atmosphere. These types of sealers are great for small- to medium-sized businesses, and have recently been seeing a lot of use in industries like recreational fishing, where they are implemented on shore to keep clients' catch fresh for the trip home. For larger industrial applications, including both food and non-food industries, there are heavy-duty floor units that are designed for use in high-production environments and are capable of being used all day, every day. Some of these machines, as previously mentioned, come with the capability to inject an inert gas into the packaging to enhance shelf life and protect the product. The different uses for these machines have been expanding as well. The medical industry, for instance, uses them to keep surgical instruments sterile. Electronics and auto parts companies have been seeing the benefits of vacuum sealing as well. Finding the right vacuum pack sealer for your needs may take some time, but the benefits are well worth it.
