Bodily injury liability coverage relates to injuries which others suffer when they are driving the insured person's vehicle. Both the insured person and all other covered family members are protected similarly while they are driving another individual's car, assuming that they have that person's permission to be driving the vehicle. Other commonly required or optional, but still desirable, coverages provided potentially by insurance policies on vehicles include comprehensive coverage, personal injury protection coverage, property damage liability coverage, and uninsured/under-insured motorist coverage. Comprehensive coverage handles any financial losses as a result of either any physical damage done to the insured individual's car which does not result from a car crash, such as a windstorm, vandalism, or fire, or those incurred because of theft. Personal Injury Protection coverage pays for any required medical treatment for the insured and other people in the vehicle which becomes necessary because of a car accident. Property damage liability coverage pays for damage caused to another person's property by the insured person's car, including their vehicle, building, or fence. Finally, uninsured or under-insured coverage offers protection for the insured person, his or her family, and anyone driving the insured's car if any of these people are crashed into by a driver who does not have any or sufficient insurance coverage.
