Dentists Provide An Amazing Scope Of Services

The number of options a dentist has to improve the quality of a persons life has expanded greatly over the last decade. There are so many new technologies and products available that people can now have the healthiest, cleanest mouths possible. From cosmetic procedures to traditional emergency care, today's dentists have everything they need to change your painful and negative attitude into a positive and healthy one. The wide array of services dentists now offer can make them seem like miracle workers.

Unlike the days when veneers would only last a short time, dentists can now provide porcelain veneers that can last up to 30 years. The use of porcelain along with ever improving bonding agents and cements means that you don't have to keep spending money every year or two on a something that is now going to last you at least a decade.

The way the dentist checks your teeth has even become more efficient. Instead of having to rely on X-rays and a tiny hand held mirror to investigate what is going on in your mouth, today's dentists have the use of intraoral cameras. These are tiny cameras that have the look of a pen. There is no radiation involved and the camera will be maneuvered around your mouth in a way that there can be a picture taken of every single tooth. It will result in highly magnified photos that will reveal problems to the tooth that would not be evident to the naked eye. This allows for problems to be treated earlier and with greater results.

Another advancement that is making the dentist's office a much more popular place to visit is the development of clear braces. Known as Invisalign, these braces are custom made for the measurement and fit of each individual's mouth. These clear braces are made up of what are known as aligners. They are made up of a clear plastic resin and are removable, making a much less painful and convenient alternative to traditional metal braces.

Cavities could almost never be detected until they were already painful. With what is called laser cavity detection, cavities can now be discovered much earlier than they would have been detected using traditional methods. They now use a laser device that can detect the earliest signs of a cavity by using wavelengths and fluorescent lasers. When decay is detected not only will there be a change in the light, but there will also be a numeric reading as well as an auditory response.

Many patients need to have a tooth removed at some point, and now that tooth can even be replaced by implants. Dental implants take the place of your old tooth's root and can prevent a variety of problems that can be caused by missing teeth. Throw in things like tooth colored fillings, advanced teeth whitening procedures and products, and mini-implants, and you can see why your dentist is not quite as scary as he used to be. Taking all of this into consideration, the scope of services a modern dentist can provide is amazing.
