Without a doubt, the Alabama Gulf Coast has some of the most beautiful beaches around. The wide, sugary white beaches stretch into the warm gulf water, giving visitors the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the ocean and the warmth of the sun. However, the area has much more to offer than just gorgeous beaches: From golf and shopping to some of the best seafood in the U.S., there is a variety of experiences available to satisfy every member of your family. The Gulf Coast has mild weather year-round, making it a great place to visit no matter when you're seeking a relaxing getaway. The ocean breezes keep summertime temperatures cooler than the scorching highs found inland, averaging in the low 80s. Winter temperatures sit comfortably in the low 50s - ideal compared to many other parts of the country that time of year The Alabama Gulf Coast stretches from Mobile Bay to Perdido Beach. In Mobile, you can visit the USS Alabama and experience first-hand what life was like on the historic battleship. This piece of American history delights both kids and kids at heart. Meanwhile, the beautiful Bellingrath Gardens and Home allows you to enjoy 65 acres of blooming flowers, and tour the stately Southern mansion built by Walter and Bessie Bellingrath in 1935. You can then take a short drive to Ft. Morgan, a wood-and-stone fort that played an integral role in the Civil War. This fort was also used during World War I and II, and it is easy to feel the rich history as you walk past its original stone walls. From there, you can also ride the Mobile ferry to Dauphin Island, home of Ft. Gaines and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The Mobile shoreline stretches into Gulf Shores, with attractions and activities that appeal to just about anybody. The large Gulf Shores State Park offers a wide expanse of beautiful open beaches. Families can enjoy a variety of other activities as well, from visiting the Gulf Coast Zoo and Water Park to playing Putt-Putt golf and riding go-carts. Nearby Foley has a large outlet mall where you could easily spend a day shopping. Some of the most popular attractions are the many dolphin cruises and tours available. The waters off Alabama are known for its abundant sea life, and people come from all over to watch the graceful dolphins glide through the water and leap through the air. Alligators are another famous local species that you can safely observe from the boardwalk paths and swamp tours available near the state's shores. Of course, no trip to the Alabama coast would be complete without sampling the gulf's delicious seafood. Local restaurants offer a variety of fresh seafood dishes, and for those who are more adventurous, the markets sell plenty of fresh catches each day for you to cook yourself. The region also boasts plenty of accommodations, regardless of your budget. From chain hotels and motels to luxurious Gulf Coast vacation rentals, visitors can find something to suit their needs. Many of these rental properties offer amenities like BBQ grills and even fish cleaning stations, allowing tourists to enjoy their vacation with the conveniences of home. A number of these vacation rentals are located right on the waterfront, making them a great place to experience the area's famous sunrises and sunsets. From water adventures to historic attractions and world-famous food, the region has something to offer every visitor.
