In this paper I will describe how to use a stained glass grinder for creating beautiful pieces of stained glass. The first step is to find a good pattern you wish to use. When the pattern is found and copied on to a piece of paper, use scissors to cut out all the pattern pieces. Each piece needs to be cut out for that which you will be using for your stained glass art After the pieces are cut out, purchase a glue stick and use the glue to fasten the individual pieces of the pattern to the desired colors of stained glass. Once the glue is dry enogh, take the single pieces which have the pattern glued to them to the grinder and use the grinder to grind away the glass to the lines on the stained glass paper. After the pieces are ground to the proper specifications, take them to the sink, allow them to soak and the glued pieces of patterned paper will come off easily. You will then need to take each piece, rub them gently under the faucet with a dish rag to clean the pieces, allow them to dry. The next step would be to foil the pieces of stained glass which will be used for the project. When the foiling is finished, the stained glass pieces can be arranged together to form the desired pattern and soldering can begin. When the soldering is completed, a process called patina may be done to the soldering edges. The patina process involves leaving the soldering with a very distinct coloring. Instead of the shiny silver which the soldering results in naturally. As soon as the piece is all the way soldered together on each side, take it back to your sink and with special glass cleaner, scrub the glass piece thoroughly on both sides to remove any residues of the flux and finger prints which may have happened while assembling the glass piece. Stained glass grinders make the process of creating stain glass art much easier. It is much more accurate to use a grinder when cutting out complicated pieces of glass in a complicated pattern. Always spend as much money on your grinder as you can afford. The more expensive glass grinders have more torque and do a better job of lubrication while cutting. Poor lube during the cutting will result in the grinding wheel becoming dull very rapidly. When ordering your glass grinder, go ahead and order a few extra grinding heads as well.
