A Million Ways to Save

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=92

Okay, we're kidding. But the point is, there are enough ways to save that everybody can probably lower costs in one way or another, and keep more money in their pocket. And these days, that's got to be good to hear. So what are some ways that you can spend less, and save more?

One advantage in a recession is that the businesses that sell you stuff-like your cell phone contract-are really hurting. If your contract is costing you, go see your provider and ask for a better deal. If they won't budge, see another provider. Sometimes, they'll even buy out your current contract if it means getting your business. Try this with other contracts, too, to cut the best deals you can.

Use craigslist and ebay to your advantage. When times get tight, lots of people sell stuff cheap to make a few bucks. If you need something-from a fish tank to sports equipment for your kids-check it out here first, and save big on your purchase. And always ask to buy it for less. It isn't too often that you can't find at least one seller willing to sell for less than the price they've listed. Just be sure you check out every buy personally.

Make it at home. If you're still going out to the movies, make the treats you'll bring at home, or at least buy them at the super market. You'll save enough money to go twice! Better, stop going to the movies. Can't do it? Go when the movies cost less-in the afternoon, or on "Cheap Tuesdays".

Buy your clothes on consignment, and sell them that way, too. Once you've worn something a few times, it's not new any more anyway, right? So start checking out the vintage shops where you can steal mean deals in this department. Want to stay with the new? Go to the back of the shop where most discounts and sale items are found. Dig deep and rummage through the sale bins. And ask for a discount for every flaw you find in an item.

Work for yourself. Find a second job, or try to get your boss to let you work from home. If you're not paying to drive to work, park, for child care, clothing, and the myriad other costs that come with a job in an office, your income can really go up. Even if you can't work at home full-time, see if you can work from home even part-time. This can still save you lots.

There may well be a million ways to save. All it takes is some creative thinking, and the desire to spend less, and save more.
