The Quirinal hill in central Rome is the highest and largest of the Rome's seven hills. This area hosts the Quirinal Palace, which had been the old papal palace, and later became the residence of the kings. It is now the residence of the President of the Italian Republic. There is a daily changing of the guard. The Scuderie del Quirinale, the former papal stables, has been remodeled and serves as a venue for touring art exhibitions. The hill is full of lovely palaces built by noble families in days gone by. Of course there are beautiful churches worth visiting. You'll also want to see and perhaps hear the Teatro dell'Opera (the Roman Opera House) at one time among the most prestigious opera houses of Europe. Take a look at the calendar of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Exhibition Palace). They might be running something that interests you. For your convenience we have listed neighborhood hotels in approximate order of cost, starting with the least expensive. We have personally verified all website addresses making sure that they include English-language pages.

The Bed and Breakfast Pablo is located in an elegant Nineteenth Century building with a 24 hour reception desk. It offers both smoking and non-smoking rooms. The address is Via Venezia, 25 - 00184 - Rome.

The four star Hotel Artemide is located quite close to the Presidential Palace if you feel the need to stop by and chat with the residents. It is situated in an elegant Art Deco building, which is well equipped for business travelers. For example, the 24 hour Business Center is outfitted with large monitors and webcams. You will enjoy the roof garden in the summer, the restaurant and cafe, and the fitness center with sauna year round. And the mini-bar is free except for the "No-Frills" rooms. Its address is Via Nazionale, 22 - 00184 - Rome.

Among its many services are translators and interpreters, a personal trainer, hairdresser, and manicurist/pedicurist.
