The versatility and beauty of leather bar stools is well known. One has only to look at interior designing magazines to see how they enhance the bar or kitchen areas where they can be placed. The smell and feel of real hide cannot be duplicated in the same way as nature has made it. Regular care of real hide will ensure its longevity for several decades at least.

Beautiful bar stools can be produced from many different kinds of wood such as mahogany, walnut and cherry. Painted wood with upholstered seats and backs looks very attractive. The choices of colors and styles is countless so it is best to keep simple if you already have furniture in your home. Blending with care will produce positive results.

When we consider how long a good pair of leather shoes or boots lasts we have an idea of how durable leather is. The bar stool will never be subjected to the kind of wear and tear leather boots are subjected to in the northern climates of the world. The main tip to keep in mind is to make sure the leather is allowed to dry when it gets wet and to periodically clean it with leather mild leather cleaners.

Different leather products will have been treated differently for the finish that they have. One should not use wax, oil or silicon based products on real hide upholstery. The product must be water based. Once the hide has been cleaned a water based protective coating must be applied to ensure further protection.

Most leather products on the market will start the deteriorating process on the finish. It has been said that water is the best conditioner for hide. The key is to maintain a proper cleaning regime for optimum leather health.

Many people are under the impression that leather needs conditioning and without doing any research they believe all the marketing that they listen to about using special oils, waxes and silicon. These will not be suitable for leather upholstery. Depending on what the leather is used for it will be treated differently.

Well built barstools will last a very long time. Careful regular cleaning of the hide and good maintenance of the stool should be practiced. Whenever the wood has taken a tap too hard from the mop or vacuum cleaner the touch ups should be taken care of right away to ensure that the bare wood is covered.

When animals have scratched the hide upholstery the scratch marks will need to be filled in. A few drops of olive oil applied with a clean white cloth and rubbed into the scratches will help. Leave to dry for four hours and then buff slightly with the cloth for a minute or two.

Leather bar stools are an attractive addition to any room, especially when the design of the stool is aesthetically pleasing. The furniture will last indefinitely as long as the leather is cleaned on a regular basis with a mild water based leather soap. Care should be taken not to use any harsh chemicals on the leather.
