Using Hypnosis As A Marketing Technique

More and more people have heard of Neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP. There are eBooks and seminars which one can get access to quite easily. The seminars are very expensive to attend, but according to those who have attended, the seminars and the eBooks have helped improve their marketing abilities to almost a 50% increase in sales. Those who have studied NLP know that the technique involves the uses of hypnotic words and phrases that could illicit a positive response from a reader or a viewer of an advertising campaign.

The words that are used to open the mind to ideas and suggestions could make the consumers become more responsive by buying the suggested products. How do these really work? Is NLP really using hypnosis or is this all a scam? Actually, the technique works remarkably well, if one were trained to use it well.

There are those who train and train and still not make a success out of it. The difference actually lies on the innate talent of an individual. Say for example a public speaker. If this speaker has no natural charisma, then no matter the hypnotic words and phrases, the listeners will not take the bait. It has to take a charismatic pull toward the speaker that can make the words ignite in the minds of the listeners and the viewers.

Another example is using the NLP technique to sell a particular product on television. The constant repetition of some keywords and key phrases will make the idea of the product take root in the mind of the viewer. Eventually, after listening for quite some time, the viewer will develop a need as suggested by the hypnotic words.

But what if the viewer were a sceptical sort, one who is not that susceptible to suggestions? For these few people, the suggestions would most probably not work because their highly intuitive and logical minds will make mincemeat out of the whole campaign. Hypnosis only works for people who are susceptible to suggestions. Those who have erected barriers are harder to reach, those who are logical, sceptical and have barriers will be impossible to penetrate. Hypnosis is highly individualistic.

It will affect different people differently. If the words used open the imagination of the viewer, then the strategy has worked and hypnosis as a marketing technique will have succeeded as it has for the past two decades that NLP has been developed for this sole purpose.
