More men might want to do plastering courses as women prefer guys with DIY skills, according to a study. Research by Bosch revealed that a significant number of women have admitted that they would rather date a man who is good at DIY compared to guys with other abilities. The investigation showed that 37 per cent of women said that they wanted a man who was handy with a tool kit and could put up a shelf or fix a wonky door knob with ease. This research suggests that single men might want to take carpentry courses, decorating courses and plumbing courses as this could help them win the girl of their dreams. Bosch's Chris Tidy said: "While all women love to be romanced, it seems your DIY skills are the thing they are really looking out for. "It's no longer about the flowers you buy or the chocolates you give them, but how good you are at putting up shelves." The study also found that taking practical courses may help men become more confident with their DIY skills. Just 38 per cent of men said that they enjoyed performing DIY tasks while 43 per cent said they avoided home improvement tasks because they were worried that it might go wrong. Furthermore, 21 per cent confessed that they were too lazy to undertake DIY tasks and 38 per cent thought that were too busy to be able to complete jobs. Those who do like to indulge in DIY have expressed how much enjoyment it brings them as 45 per cent said that it fills them with pride, 26 per cent use it to display their creativity while more than a quarter like the feeling of creating something unique. Women might also benefit from taking decorating courses, plastering courses and tiling courses as the study found that 54 per cent thought that males are the best when it comes to undertaking DIY tasks around the house. The study found that 67 per cent thought that men were better because they more experienced while 43 per cent believed males were superior at DIY because they are more confident. Mr Tidy said: "Practical skills have become essential for men looking to impress the women around them, but there's no reason to feel hesitant when it comes to picking up a power tool." There was positive news for female DIY devotees as one in twenty respondents thought that women are the best at handling home improvements.
