CDN software solutions are changing the way information is stored and retrieved on the internet. There is no denying that the internet is an integral part of everyone's life. Not only for pleasure but for business operations on a very large scale, is the world wide web needed. CDN, or content delivery networks, are making people's lives easier. A content delivery network is like a chain of computers that all have the same files stored. The analogy of a tree is often used to paint the picture of what a uk CDN is. Imagine a tree with leaves on its branches. The leaves represent a file and each leaf is duplicated on each branch. When one of those leaves falls off, or is pulled by an internet user, there is still many many copies of that leaf on the tree. Now the information is not just in one copy all stored in the trunk of the tree. With the high demand for speed and accuracy of search queries, CDN solutions are attempting to meet these needs. Instead of information being stored in one virtual place, a CDN stores the same information in many virtual places to be more accessible to all who are seeking. This is especially important during peak internet times. Content delivery networks are responsible for quick access of the following: video on demand, live audio streaming, live stream playback, streaming to mobile, content caching, the downloading of images, software, documents and media. A CDN does all of this and it does it quickly. Before the content delivery network came along, a video file would be too large to play often. It would either consistently pause or never play at all. The latest internet demands that a computer now becomes a television, with each website being like a channel. There had to be a solution to the video and audio capabilities. Individuals and companies can also build their own content delivery network. There is also the option of selling the content delivery network to others, thus making an entire new industry with one idea. There are many companies that now offer the capability of licensing their CDN on one's own network in order to be able to start selling content delivery network services right away. As with anything, the more a consumer demands something, the more a company will figure out the way to supply that need. Even with something as life changing as the internet has been for everyone, demands for internet improvements will not go unanswered. No longer is it enough to have the information accessible, it must be accessible very very quickly. The alternative is a hardware solution. In this method, information is stored close to the user and is in one location (on their own server sometimes). When the user pulls the information, it slows down the ability for another user to pull the same information. It is almost like having to pass a book or a piece of paper around, it is not easy to share. This would be fine for a small office of people, say 6 or 8 employees but not for large companies, proving CDNs to be the next best thing in information management.
