A southwest painted hide is a decoration that speaks of the American west. A hide can conjure up the glow of sunlight on sandstone mesas, the outlines of cacti against a spectacular desert sunrise, the excitement of a rodeo, or the timeless beauty of Native American artistry. Covering anywhere from the size of an ordinary painting, to a full-sized hide that will take up most of a wall, these art works depict scenes from Indian life, southwestern wildlife, and other vivid western themes.

There are many fine artists in the modern world who paint southwestern themes on hides. Because of so many artists making these, you definately be able to find one that you'll love. Many painted hides are completely unique creations, like the Native American artworks that inspired them.

The choices you have are many because of both the Native Americans and those of European descent who love their culture and artistic abilities and who contribute their art to painted hides. The spice of artistic life is supported by different perspectives and different stylistic approaches. You will be sure to find a hide whose individual characteristics match just the mood you are trying to project. There is a hide that will be the perfect finishing touch for your southwestern decor no matter if you the dignity of an Indian brave gazing steadily into the distance, the excitement of a rodeo scene, or the timeless beauty of some America wildlife.

The three main types of pictures you can find on painted hides are Native Americans, cowboys, and wildlife. Native American scenes may be painted in the style of older Indian artwork, to capture the flavor and wistfulness of a bygone era. These painted hides may offer a portrait style image of a brave in his war-bonnet and deerskin clothing, or a winsome but free-spirited Indian woman in her buckskins and beads. Alternately, they may show an active scene like a buffalo hunt or a Native American riding free over the grasslands.

They may give a glimpse into the exciting events of a rodeo or a cattle drive or focus on a single cowboy in a Native American scene. If you woukld like to bring in the look of self-reliance, fast horses, lariats, and wide cowboy hats then there are painted hides available in these styles. And lastly, scenes of wildlife will help you to bring the amazing natural creations of the southwest into your home. They may show the strength of a buffalo or the swiftness of a deer, these artistic hides will offer a look at the natural world of campfires, horseback riding, and wide open spaces.
