3 Things to Consider When Planning A Wedding

Planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful and challenging events of somebody's life, with the onus very much on having the perfect day. Everything has to be just right, from the flowers to the fabric ceilings in the marque.

Planning A Wedding Often Involves

Guest List

Everyone wants to make sure that the people they like are at their wedding, however with extended families often becoming involved and partners of friends a wedding that had planned to be intimate can burgeon into a very expensive affair.

Clearly, therefore, knowing your budget is crucial to deciding how many people you can invite as this can often boil down to a cost-per-head scenario. The key thing to worry about is not who may be offended about not being invited, but who you actually want to be there. Of course, you have to make sure that you plan it long enough in advance to give people enough notice to be able to attend.

Venue

This is a very personal choice and one that is often made by the bride. The wedding industry will tell you that this is something that the bride has been planning since she was a little girl, but she won't have been planning to wed you at half-time of your favourite football team's big game, so there may need to be an element of compromise on this front.

Many couples go for the church venue, even if they have no religious connections, simply because it is pretty. While this can be the case, ministers can often consider themselves to be "the main act" as such events and so it's important to find someone who marries you that doesn't think a succession of mother-in-law jokes interspersed between your vows as an appropriate way to marry. Many ministers are excellent, and undertake their duties without ego, but it's often best to check them out before they become the focus of the service.

Menu

Everyone likes chicken, so they'll be fine with that. If they're vegetarian then you're going to have to consider pretending that their chicken is really carrots. So long as they don't find out they'll love it, although they probably will pester you for the rest of your lives about that "recipe for the carrots." Be sure to spice it up a bit with a few rare fruits that cost a fortune to get hold of.

So you see, planning a wedding can be extremely stressful, but as you're footing the bill why not have some fun along the way?
