Corporate Entertainers (AKA Clean Comedians) Are Being Hit Hard By The Economy

The sluggish economy might be a blessing in disguise for some corporate entertainers. However, many more are definitely feeling the pinch of corporate cutbacks in spending for non-essential employee benefits. Hiring a comedian, for instance, to give a motivational talk at a meeting could definitely be considered non-essential by corporate executives.

Because clean comedians are being called on less for corporate events, most are finding themselves having to diversify their offerings in order to reach more potential clients. Business losses are proving to be excellent news for family reunions, anniversary parties, banquets, weddings and other gatherings that are more family-focused, or require a "cleaner" act.

Diversifying the types of shows they offer has been the best defense for many of these entertainers. After all, simply being funny doesn't give an act much substance. The entertainers who have weathered this storm have been the ones who bring other talent and skills to the podium. With a wide range of acts to choose from, event planners have been able to find clean comedy acts that fit into some pretty small niches.

Corporate entertainers with a background in magic and clowning are sought-after by groups who wish to entertain their guests with magic, juggling, physical comedy and, of course, good clean jokes. These generally work well for mixed-age groups, since juggling and magic appeal to crowds of all ages and elicit the kind of audience participation that brings a show to life. For adults, whether for class reunions, church groups, business events or awards banquets, clean comedy performers who combine their act with motivational speeches can really make an unforgettable impact upon a group.

Some speakers work as teams or as individuals. Having two people on stage allows for an entirely different sort of show since the couple on stage can interact with one another to the crowd's amusement. And if they bring the crowd into the act as well, the results can be new and different with every group, and feature the unexpected as well. Just like single performers, duos can inject humorous improvisation, skits and physical comedy, as well as magic, sports, dance, music, impressions and other skills. More than ever, event planners are able to choose the perfect speaker from a wider array of talent.

With corporations and conventions shopping for less entertainment, agencies have stretched their clean comedy marketing efforts to include event planners working on a smaller scale. Coordinators of everything including class reunions, family reunions, community events, nonprofit events, graduations, award banquets, church events and other social group functions have been pleased to discover such a wide range of clean comedy entertainers to choose from. In the past, working with professional entertainers had been somewhat of a pipe dream, but now it's just part of the process.

Following the arrival of the downtrodden economy, some corporate entertainers were hit really hard. Depending upon one stream of income definitely has its drawbacks. In the end, however, the result has been a wider audience. Diversifying their offerings has proven, for many speakers, to be helpful in putting some of the sparkle back into their acts. Interacting with a crowd of a different nature has helped put them back in touch with their audiences and helped their careers grow exponentially. Career growth and a wider audience isn't something many corporate entertainers expected from a failing economy, but in this business, the show must go on.
