Summer Skin Tips

Skin is very important to looking beautiful. Along with being the largest organ and continually regenerating, your skin really is amazing – so treat it like it is! Having beautiful summer skin is about more than just a sexy tan. Follow these tips to have a beautiful sheen on your skin, the whole summer long.

1. Diet: What you eat can determine how you look, and I’m not just talking about a tummy. Take a teaspoon of cod liver oil for a daily dose of essential fats, and Vitamins A and D. The latter are necessary for keeping skin looking new and young. Supplement it with lacto-fermented foods, such as yogurt, sauerkraut, fish sauce and miso, all of which help your digestion.

2. Sunscreen: While using sunscreen can prevent your skin from developing wrinkles and lines, it also lessens the amount of Vitamin D – a vitamin necessary for happiness, literally – that your skin absorbs. If you don’t use sunscreen, be very careful not to overstay your welcome in the sun. As soon as you start feeling too hot, that means that you’re getting burned, and that could mean skin cancer down the road. Use a sunscreen with antioxidants and hydrating agents. Vitamin C is a good additive to look for in sunscreens. When you wear it use enough to take a minute or so to rub it all in. Then reapply it every 2 to 3 hours.

3. Fake tan: There are so many products on the market that can give you the safest kind of tan without any streaks or orange effects. If you’re fair, and don’t want to risk the time and trouble of tanning in the sun, choose one that’s right for you.

4. Exfoliate: Use corn flour and honey in equal amounts once a week to exfoliate your face. This delicate combination will give you firm, clean skin.

5. Moisturize: Make your own lotion with rose, lavender and almond oil and put it on your skin before tanning or after showering.

6. Lip balm: If it has SPF it’s especially good for you. Wearing darker shades of lipstick is also good.

7. Eyes: Wear big sun glasses to protect your eyes from the suns UV rays.

8. Feet: Pretty toes have long been touted as a sign of beauty. If you suffer from dry feet, soak them in water and add a pinch of salt. Change the water from hot to cold, moving every two minutes or so. Doing this is good for your blood circulation. In conjunction, wear lots of open shoes that allow your toes to stay dry. Plus, you want to show them off once they start looking good!

9. Hydrate: This is the most important tip on this list. Drinking water flushes toxins from your body, keeping your skin healthy and clean. Dry, cracked skin lacks moisture and the best way to replenish it is by drinking tons of water.

Following these tips will make your skin the envy of the entire beach.
