DJs vs Bands - Who To Choose?

Are you planning an event? Maybe you are sourcing information for your wedding day or maybe you have been given the task of organising the next office party. Either way you will need to consider entertainment for the evening.

Many party planners tend to leave the entertainment to the last second, or place it low on their priority list. They usually think that whatever entertainment they organise will be as good as the next. This is a huge mistake. I will even go so far as to say that the entertainment that you organise for your event is as, if not more, important as the décor and catering. Consider this - the entertainer you choose will take the spotlight for the longest period of time at your event.

The typical function goes as follows: People arrive followed by some speeches and some form of food is served, after that the success of the event all hangs on the entertainment. An audience that is bored by the music will thin out quickly as people make their excuses and move on to a better more lively party.

This is the first reason to hire a DJ instead of a band. A DJ generally has a finer ability to assess the crowd at hand and cater for accordingly (thanks to the huge music collection). There certainly are bands that advertise themselves as having a very broad variety of songs and that they can cater for any event, but a band will always be limited by their talent and the songs that they have rehearsed.

A DJ, on the other hand has a limitless choice when it comes to play lists and music. A DJ can therefore adapt his or her "show" at the push of a button. Bands usually have a set list and can also play some requests as long as the band has rehearsed the song in question.

A good DJ will be able to play 99% of requests and also be able to adjust his or her playing style to suit the specific crowd in attendance. In other words a DJ will keep your guests happier for longer.

When opting for a DJ, you'll ensure that your guests stick around for a greater portion of the evening. You're ensured of a successful evening that will live long in the memory of your guests. Be sure to do some research should you choose to go with a professional DJ. Find someone who can offer contactable references and testimonials.
