If you’re a deal fiend, then you may spend hours scouring the internet for online coupons to help you save. There are so many sites out there that it can be hard to find the best ones for deals. Here are a few, that shouldn’t disarm you.

1. General Discount Sites have pretty much everything that you want – from rugs to electronics. Among these, there are a few that stand out.

Overstock.com: With $2.95 shipping on all of your orders, there’s a lot to be said for this site. With its wide selection of items, they have tons of products for the home, along with tons of clothing and jewelry.

Smartbargains.com: Another site with a spread of deals, smartbargain’s specialty is designer clothing.

2. Coupon sites have codes and discounts that are applicable more generally, and function like gift certificates.

CouponCodes.com: While searching through a list of codes can be overwhelming at times, this site will give you discounts for well known companies, and for companies that it can’t offer codes for, it will tell you about their sales.

Fatwallet.com: This site features a user forum with posts for all kinds of deals.

Valpak.com is a great site for coupons for dry cleaners, florists and auto shops. They used to send you thick valpaks in the mail, but now, there are all online.

3. Shopping Bots provide deals and information about products for the consumer. They round up deals from across the internet. The ones at the top of the page are usually paid so sort by pricing instead.

Shopzilla.com: Clean and organized, this site makes shopping a cinch

Shopping.com: This site is also friendly, but remember to sort by price

4.Travel: Kayak.com is easy to use and provides the best rates on airfare and lodging, searching the Internet for the lowest prices. But TravelZoo.com is another great resource if you want to take a trip and don’t know where to go. They list the best deals on all kinds of travel, especially if you want a last minute getaway.

5. Twitter: Many companies now update their Twitters when they have sales. If there are too many for you to follow out there, then use programs like CheapTweet and CouponTweet to streamline the process.

6. Mobile Deals: You can even get deals sent to your cell phone so that all you have to do when checking out at the store is pretend you’re taking a call. If you have an iPhone, Coupon Sherpa is cool, if not, try Cellfire, MobiQpons, or Yowza.

7. Food: Restaurants can be expensive. But if you check sites like Restaurant.com or DineOutCheap.com, it doesn’t have to be.

There you have it deal mongers, tons of coupons out there waiting to be clipped, or rather, written down, tweeted, or mobiled. Part of the difficulty in shopping for deals is knowing where to start. Now that you have these resources, you should have an idea of where to begin.
