Tips on How to Organize Your Bedroom with Closet Organizer Systems

Does your bedroom look like a declared disaster area? Do all your clothes and shoes and handbags or belts and ties and other accessories seem to be growing exponentially while your room shrinks? If you find yourself tiptoeing around in your room, trying not to step on clothes, and it’s taking you longer and longer each morning to find your stuff and get ready for work, your bedroom could be in need of some custom closets. Here are some tips for getting your bedroom organized.

1.First of all, you need to take stock of what you’ve got – and don’t let yourself say “It might come in handy someday” too often. If you haven’t worn it in the last six months, chances are you won’t wear it in the next six months. Identify those old, worn out, ill-fitting or just plain unsuitable clothes. Decide what you want to keep and what you can throw out or give away to friends, family, charity or sell in a garage sale or at a thrift store, on EBay or craigslist.

2.Organize your closets based on your remaining clothes, shoes and accessories. Choose custom closets and shoe storage racks that suit the kinds of clothes that you have. For example, if you have lots of shirts, blouses and dresses that need to hang, consider closet organizer systems with a lot of rods. If you have a lot of shorts, t-shirts or jeans that can be folded, choose closet organizer systems that offer a lot of shelf space.

3.Organize your clothes into logical groups so that you can find them easily and can reduce your getting-ready time in the morning. That means shirts, jeans, shoes, dresses, shorts, pajamas, socks and underwear together, or in groups that make sense to you.

4.Get the most out of your closets by storing some items in other parts of your bedroom. Shoes can hang on shoe trees, lie under the bed on shoe racks, or sit in clear shoe boxes or pockets that hang on the door. Over-the-door hooks and wall mount hooks are perfect for storing scarves, handbags, belts and ties. For underwear and delicates, choose stackable shelving or plastic bins so that they don’t get damaged or swept away by other items. Cosmetics and jewelry can be placed in drawer organizers so that they don’t take up dresser space.

5.Whenever you add an item of clothing to your closet organizer systems, try to get rid of an older item that you rarely wear. This will help you keep your custom closets manageable and less at risk of overflowing. It will also help you avoid being tempted to buy cheap items from thrift stores that you’re likely to never wear. Remember, an item is only a bargain if you actually use it!

6.Finally, invest in a laundry sorter hamper – especially if you live in a shared apartment without a laundry and your room’s your own little world! Often, contents of bedrooms span out of control because dirty clothes get thrown on the closet floor and begin to edge their way out. A wicker laundry hamper or space-saving pop-up hamper, foldable hamper or laundry bag can help you keep Laundromat-bound clothes in order in your closet organizer systems.
