Combat self-defense is what Captain Chris professes through close combat training as a means to prevent either you, as a victim, or your family from being the recipient of an unlawful attack. With years of training as a Special Forces instructor, Chris has made it his life work, through his company, Close Combat Company, to educate individuals everywhere how to use this highly effect means of self-defense. Through the use of the simple principles, anyone should be able to defend him or herself, as well as loved ones from an unwanted attack. Combat self-defense defined is the means of being able to provide protection against an attacker should the need arise. Aside from being prepared, both physically and mentally, there are a few suggestions from Captain Chris as to how to avoid any unnecessary confrontations.

1. Be aware of your surroundings-It seems that every day there is a story on the news about an unsuspecting victim who either opened the door, trusting the culprit was someone other than the one to rob him/her. Awareness means looking around and being aware of the surroundings. Keeping one's head up and seeing the full spectrum of the "field of vision" is the key to not becoming a victim of a robbery or a mugging.

2. Exercise the body-physical exercise of any kind is positive. It keeps the muscles strong and healthy, it allows circulation of oxygen throughout the muscle tissue and it keeps the minds focused with the release of certain endorphins after a certain level of activity. Start with walking or hiking, and work up to a level of jogging. If jogging is not an option, then consider an elliptical machine, a stationary bike or swimming, as none of these alternatives will have a direct impact on the knees.

3. Exercise the mind-"Close Combat Training" requires certain levels of awareness to become innate, or second nature. This means that there may be some changes necessary, in order to be prepared for any situation. Captain Chris suggests that while jogging or exercising, keep one bud out of the ear, so as to always be aware of the surroundings.

4. Don't be a target-confidence and awareness are two steps to avoid being a victim. You cannot count on awareness alone and should still learn proper self defense that you know you can count on in case you need it; but awareness is the key ingredient to real and lasting personal safety.

These are only a few of the steps that Captain Chris suggests, in order to avoid being a victim in a potentially avoidable situation. It helps to be prepared, and the best way to be prepared is through "Close Combat Training." Since World War II, there has been a secret, easy to use, easy to remember, and unbeatable method of personal protection called "Close Combat Training." Knowing these techniques may be the difference between the safety of one's self, loved ones, or it may even be a matter of life and death.
