The advantages of living in the city centre may include being close to transportation, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. People who live in the city may also be able to live within walking distance of their jobs. Living close to public transportation in the city may mean owning a car is not necessary. Two cities with busy city centres are Leeds and Manchester in England.

Flats, apartments and houses are available for sale or rent in the Leeds and Manchester city centres. The monthly rents and sale prices for these homes vary. Prospective renters or buyers will find homes in a variety of sizes.

Public transportation is easily accessible in the city of Leeds. A free bus runs through the city centre. A bus and coach station is located in this area. A train station with service to other parts of the country is also in the city. The centre of Manchester also provides easy access to public transportation. The train stations in the city, Piccadilly Station and Victoria Station, are located in the city centre. Both stations have trains with service to London and other parts of the country. Metrolink light rail stops at both stations as well as other locations in the city centre. Buses travel throughout the city centre.

One of the places to shop in Leeds is the Victoria Quarter. Shops selling designer goods are among the 70 shops located in this area. The Merrion Centre area in Leeds has a supermarket, a drugstore, a department store and many other retail shops. A supermarket and a pharmacy are located in the Manchester city centre. The Manchester Arndale Center has over 240 shops and a variety of restaurants. Restaurants that serve different types of cuisine are located around the city centres in Leeds and Manchester.

The Leeds City Museum and the Grand Theatre are two places where people can find entertainment in the city. Visitors to the museum can see exhibits on the ancient civilizations and the history of the earth. The Grand Threatre offers musicals, plays and concerts. The Palace Theatre and the Opera House in the city centre of Manchester both offer a variety of shows.

The offices, shops and restaurants in Leeds and Manchester may provide opportunities for employment for those who live in the city.

Those who live in big cities such as Leeds and Manchester will find there are many advantages of living in the city centre.
