In website hosting, uptime is defined as the measure of time that a server has constantly stayed up and continuously running. It is usually stated as a percentage of time; e.g. 99.9% uptime. Providers of hosting sites continue to use this as their marketing tool in their attempt to convince potential customers. Their uptime percentage is largely expressed in their marketing materials and in their websites with the purpose of giving potential customers an understanding of how they dominate the market with their server reliability. The majority of marketers of web hosting will do their best to gain a great number of customers in the most competitive market. Most website hosting providers claim an uptime of 98% and above on a 24/7 time frame. Likewise, most consumers prefer 24/7 uptime as it guarantees no outages. The constant online availability is very crucial to any person hosting a website. Is it critical to have 24/7 uptime in choosing a website host? This vital question should be answered by the website providers prior to attempting to sign in a possible customer. As stated above, first, 24/7 uptime assures no outage in the end. Secondly, uptime critically describes the amount of time in any time that a website is up and constantly running. More time is better for the host providers, site owners, and the browsers. Continuous information on any site is required by internet users. A website should be kept up and running 24 hours a day by anyone regardless of the location. Just the same, access to the internet must be available to the customer at all times. Hence, connection lapses will imply that some users will lose critical connection. Interrupting businesses has potential danger of creating likely economic slumber. Uptime, at its best, is the measure of how good website hosting providers maintain their systems ability to keep running consistently. In a 24/7 uptime, website hosting providers must be able to keep their servers available throughout business hours continuously. This means that customer websites that are hosted must be available all the time without downtimes. Constant connections to their sites will then make customers happy. Seeing no interruptions to their business and a comfortable working condition will make them happy. It should be noted that WebPages will not be able to keep customers if they experience downtimes. Thus, 24/7 consistent connection, as required by customers, should be provided by website servers. On the opposite, it is important to keep in mind that the claims of most website hosting providers about their best uptime provisions are sometimes unreliable. People should be careful of 24/7 uptime as asserted by host providers. While regular outage do occur, most claims of 24/7 uptime are just guarantees of reimbursement. An offer of guaranteed no outage is more important than reimbursement. Technical problems from the host provider may still cause major server outages. Likewise, outages can also resulting from breakdown of your computer hardware. Lastly, the customer has no method to independently verify the uptime level claimed by these website-hosting providers.
