Maybe one of the worse things you will deal with as a pet owner is fleas. If your pet is starting to scratch a lot check your pet very carefully as it could have fleas. These small pests can multiply very quickly so always keep that in mind. Checking on your pet's belly is a good place to start as they're usually easier to spot there. If you do see one, you can be assured there are many more on them and even throughout your home. Getting started on flea control will be your next step to rid yourself of flea infestation. Here are some tips to help with flea control and getting your pet flea free as soon as possible. Once you have a flea infestation they can hide anywhere from your pet's coat to furniture and even in your carpet. Fleas also carry a variety of different diseases so getting rid of them should be something you tackle right away. There are several ways to start the flea control process, but your first step will be to bathe your pet. Buy a medicated flea shampoo for your dog and bathe them as soon as possible. Many fleas will be washed down the drain as you bathe your pet. It will also be a good idea to wash your pets bedding as well. Fleas tend to like some pets bedding as well. Use a flea comb to go through your dog's hair on a daily basis. After each stroke dip the comb in soapy water as it will drown any fleas attached to the comb. Yes, this will take you some time, but its part of the flea control process you must do. If your flea infestation is really bad a flea bomb maybe something, you will want to consider. This is a process where you must leave your home as the process will kill all fleas throughout your home. Even though this process can be a hassle it is one of the best methods of flea control around. Lastly talk to your vet about flea control and what is your best option. Fleas products such as Advantage and Frontline can be applied to your pets skin on a monthly basis to kill fleas. These two products do work very well. Talk to your vet to see which product is best for your situation. Fleas can be a big problem if left untreated as they multiply very quickly. A well thought out flea control plan will be the key to your success.
