You have heard it before - having a top page rank is crucial for your business. The top three positions are the most sought after as they get the most clicks. Unless you are a well known entity like Amazon.com, eBay.com or Dell.com, you will need to bank on unique keywords to let your potential customers find you in the ever crowded world wide web. Optimizing your website for web presence should be a frequent, if not daily, activity. Ranking positions in the search engine results fluctuate all the time and do so most frequently for popular keywords. Unless you spend time optimizing and tweaking your website, you will without doubt slip further and further down the rankings as other webmasters enter into your market and outrank you with the same keywords and then some. There are various methods you can use for optimization and usually a combination of different techniques is proven to be more effective. Among the techniques that are popularly used in combination with others is writing really great quality web content. Content is king and information in the form of content is most sought after on the web. When writing content, your articles should be unique and relevant to your business. It should also be helpful and informative to your readers. Targeting specific keywords for your article is the most delicate task in achieving a high page rank for your website. A great technique is to write an article normally as you would and after completing it, replace some words and phrases with your basket of unique keywords which you have already researched on using tools such as Wordtracker or Google's keyword tool. Without specific keywords and phrases, the web traffic that you generate will have no relevance or interest to your website, hence you are unlikely to make any sale. It is advised that you use your keywords with prudence throughout your website because too much of the same words will also kill your ranking. Another technique is to contact websites with relevance to your business and request that they link back to you. This is after you have uploaded quality content on your website. Having backlinks from other quality and relevant websites will result in a higher page rank for you. To maximize your chances of being crawled and included in the search list of popular search engines, submit your website to popular and reputable directories such as the Yahoo directory or DMOZ. You may have to pay a certain rate for each inclusion but the reward would be worth it. In most cases, optimizing your website is not a set-it and forget-it exercise. While this may work with niche markets with very little competition, in most cases, you will be up against hungry webmasters who are up all night trying to outperform you. So make website optimization a frequent activity, or better yet a hobby, and you should see success catching up with you.
