Beyond those two similarities everything else makes them completely different. An eZine, or digital magazine, is loosely based on a traditional magazine. These involve a collection of small articles put together into a database, usually of the same theme. These articles are between 400-600 words in length, or about 1-5 pages long. They typically involve republishing articles that have been published elsewhere. An eBook, or digital book, is a book that has been put onto a computer. These are just like regular books. Ebooks are longer than the ezine articles, generally coming in 15 to 60 pages in length. These generally do not involve repurposing articles like an eZine, but are rather one continuous piece of work. If there is repurposing they will be rewritten to ensure smooth transitions and continuity. eZines are far easier to compile than eBooks because of the amount of effort you have to put into them. eBooks require a lot more time to assemble them and do any rewriting as opposed to compiling a bunch of articles together. The amount of effort needed to create them also comes into play for the price. eBooks are usually sold for a particular price, depending on the length and quality. Generally the longer the ebook the more quality in it and the price goes up. Because of their length and because they are usually supported by ads eZines are usually never sold. In some niche markets you can get subscribers to pay for them. It is understandable why people can get confused between the differences between an eBook and an eZine. They are both similar because they are written content that is put onto the internet. However, there is a distinct difference between the two. Price, structure, and length all separate them from each other. There is a distinct difference between eBooks and eZines.
