Consumers can choose between two main business broadband uk options. Consumers can choose ADSL broadband. There is traditional copper wire ADSL broadband such as supplied by BT amongst others. Consumers can also choose fibre-optic broadband provided by Virgin Media. You can get various features depending on which business broadband provider you choose. Your choice of broadband package will depend on whether you want it for business or home use. Some packages come with a set limit to how much you can download a month, whereas others will have unlimited downloading each month. Different packages have different maximum line speeds but the maximum speed you will receive depends on how well developed the cable network is in your area. Contracts will also be of differing lengths so you may want to choose a shorter contract if you think you may want to change in a year. The monthly charge will vary depending on the speed of the line and the download limits. There are various extras associated with different packages. Business broadband packages can include for example a wireless router, static IP addresses, a set amount of webspace, security software and POP3 mailboxes. If considering a business broadband package, check whether it has better security than a similar domestic package, including things such as data backup or a firewall. A business broadband package will generally offer better support than a domestic package, so check to see if things like 24/7 free-phone support is offered. If you want a networked office, check to see if the package supports this. If you want to run mail servers check to see if the package will provide you with a static IP address. To get a better deal on broadband you may want to consider a bundle including TV and/or phone call packages. If you are looking for TV and/or phone call deals in addition to broadband, these bundles can prove cost efficient. You will save money by purchasing a broadband-only package if you don't want or need a TV or phone deal. The broadband package needs to satisfy your requirements but doesn't have to offer more than you need. A broadband package with unlimited/large download limits is best if you will be doing lots of downloading. It will be more cost effective to get a broadband package with slower line speeds and lower download limits if you don't plan on utilising the internet a lot. If you want business broadband then pick a package with excellent security features and 24/7 support. If you require all the extra features a broadband package offers then it's a good idea to get that package; however if you will not be using your broadband a lot or using it for domestic purposes instead of business purposes, a cheaper option without additional features is more suitable.
