Firstly your content will be indexed by the search engines and you will rank based on the popularity of your keywords and secondly you are building backlinks that point back to your primary website which affects its ranking as well. To increase your chances of being indexed by the search engines, submit your articles to popular article directories such as ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and sites such as Squidoo and DMOZ. When your articles get picked up by website publishers you would also be getting traffic from their subscribers and if your primary site is popular with readers, the amount of traffic you will get will just snowball.
