The Growing Problem Of Obesity And How To Solve It

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=48
By : George Hutton

There is a growing problem in western society today. It is a problem that can cut short your life, and create a host of other health problems. Over two thirds of adults suffer from this horrible problem, and it seems to be getting worse and worse. This problem is also starting to affect young children, perhaps stopping them from having a long and healthy life before they even start. The problem? Obesity.

The startling thing about this is that it isn't a disease of unknown cause like cancer or heart disease. It's not in our genes, it isn't something that sneaks into us during the night. This so called disease is purely a result of the choices that you make on a daily basis. You don't go to sleep one night skinny, and wake up fat the next day. It takes quite a bit of time and effort to put on all that weight.

If you do find yourself avoiding the mirror in the morning, then you are in pretty good company. More than two thirds of adults today suffer from obesity. That number isn't likely to decrease in the near future. Some say that is because of our modern society, and plethora of easy to eat fast food that we are surrounded with on a daily basis. Many argue it's due to the fact that we don't need to put in a physically hard days labor for our jobs anymore.

Whatever the reasons are, the solutions are simple and straightforward. If you would like to lose weight, then exercise and diet are your only options. Unless of course you want to have that stomach surgery, but that's pretty expensive, drastic, and painful. For most of us, exercise and diet are our only options. But how do we exercise? What is the best way?

As it took quite a while to put on all that weight, it's going to take just as long to get rid of it. So don't expect any overnight miracles. Gradually and consistently is the best method. Eating food, and moving our bodies around are part of who we are, so when we change our behaviors, it's going to take a while, so changing them slowly is much easier.

What is surprisingly the easiest way to start exercising is by simply going for a walk every day. Yes, that's right. Joining a gym, buying heaps of expensive equipment, none of this is necessary. You don't even need to buy special shoes. The shoes you are wearing right now are good enough. The only thing left to do is get out there and start walking on regular basis, preferably about twenty minutes or so a ay. Once you make that a daily habit, prepare for the magic that will quickly transform your life.
