Managing Distributed Teams For Large Enterprise

Large businesses have constant and ongoing management team difficulties. One of the reasons for this is that these businesses refuse to use the technology that has been placed before them, for fear of price or fear of change. In today's technology driven world, using video conferencing - as well as other team business management techniques, should constantly be employed. With this type of technology - and what it can do for your business, you will constantly save money, as well as be more efficient.

The World Wide Web has made so many things available to people at the click of a button. Basically anything you want or need is just a quick search, or a few clicks of the mouse button away. Since the web is so accessible, why not conduct your business meetings and other business related issues right online. There are several applications that allow for videoconference calling and online meetings. This will allow you to conduct meetings in a timely manner, as well as conduct meetings with contacts and businesses that are out of state or out of the country. More importantly, you will save a ton of money on travel expenses and other meeting set-up fees. Many applications are free. The most popular one is probably "Skype."

There are also fast and cost-friendly ways to share your work and documents online. You are able to present presentations, share documents, spreadsheets, drawings and other business related forms, all in real-time. This in turn will allow you to gain customers and make connections with other businesses. Since you are doing this in real-time, there is no wait involved. If a customer asks you to see some sort of document or presentation, you can share it with them right away. This is an excellent way to collaborate on jobs with other clients and businesses. Best of all, many of these type of applications are free. One of the best ones is Google Docs.

If you are looking to use video conferencing in a different way, then why not create business podcasts for your teams to follow. Of you are heading up a geographically dispersed team of people, and you are finding it difficult to get everyone together at the same time, then create a podcast. You can create a podcast of instructions and/or requirements of what you expect every team member to deliver. Post the podcast and allow every team member to watch the podcast when time allows. This will allow everyone to be on the same page, even if you are unable to have a meeting at the same time.

You can see that using technology for geographically dispersed business teams can be cost efficient, as most of these applications are either free or very low cost.
