Some online games would require a UK VPS host on a particular OS. With such an online connection gamers from different places around the globe are able to play with each other. Because of this it's important to consider which operating system server will host the game. Despite the fact that installing Linux requires some technical know-how, the benefits are well worth it as it's considered one of the most efficient OS out there. Linux virtual servers are lauded for their high performance. 100,000 connections simultaneously can be easily processed by a Linux VPS. Although most commercial games have been designed to work on Windows, Linux virtual server hosting can easily host a game server. Linux virtual server hosting can be used for games, but you need to keep a couple of things in mind. Your game should first of all be compatible with the Linux VPS host. Likewise it should allow other players to connect to your game even if you're on different OS. Setting up a game server to Linux VPS will be discussed briefly here. The first step is to restore the goserver package which can be done using the command "gunzip goserver.tar.gz". After this has been done correctly, the server should be able to create an automatic goserevr directory with all the required files in it. This directory can be created with "tar xvf goserver.tar". Once the goserver directory has been created, it will have five sub directories. These directories are installation, monitor, globalops, lib, and bin. The bin subdirectory will have a goserver.elf file and the server profile server.prf. If you go to lib/Linux release, you'll find that it contains three dynamic libraries. You can run the goserver with a resource file contained in the globalops subdirectory. The installation sub directory will be a documentation which will guide the process of installation of the set up. Remote monitors, which can be used to run under Windows or Linux VPS, are found in the monitor subdirectory. The executable file should be moved to the server profile right from the bin/Linux. Move the dynamic libraries to the system path. Once you've done all that, you just need a particular IP address to which you can bind your Linux server. Your Linux VPS is now ready to be configured with the game.
