You read about exercise everywhere you go. Magazines, billboards, websites, mail advertisements - it seems that everyone is bombarded with the importance of exercise on a regular basis. Gyms and sports complexes are full of people who are working out, sweating, and stretching their muscles. Did you ever stop to consider why people are so concerned about exercise and what they can accomplish by exercising regularly? Here are some of the main reasons why daily exercise is important. 1. Exercise helps control our weight. Exercise burns calories. We quickly accumulate extra fat when we eat too much. It takes 3500 calories to add a pound to our body weight. Candy bars, fast food, ice cream and soda pop can all quickly add up to extra pounds. The only way to reverse this is to diet and eat less calories or exercise and burn the calories. Even small amounts of exercise can help you lose weight. 2. Exercise gives you more energy. If you get regular physical exercise, you will improve your muscle tone and give your endurance a huge boost. Oxygen and nutrients will be delivered to your brain and tissues and everything will work better. Your energy and endurance will then increase. Also, once you have exercised, it's a good idea to use support for your chairs so you can keep your body in shape throughout the day. 3. Exercise helps your body fight disease and sickness. Being active increases the good cholesterol and decreases the unhealthy kind. Your blood will flow more freely, which helps cut down the risk for heart disease. You can also help prevent diabetes, depression, strokes and other ailments by exercising regularly. 4. Exercise improves your mood. If you are feeling stressed, a workout or walk may be the answer to give you some relief. Physical activity increases the chemicals in your brain that relax you and make you feel happier. When you exercise regularly, you also feel better about your appearance, which boosts your confidence and thus improves your self-esteem. 5. Exercise helps you sleep better. You will fall asleep faster and the quality of your sleep will improve when you have exercised during the day. While it's not a good idea to exercise close to your bed time, making sure you get some exercise in your schedule will help you rest better at night. Exercising does not have to be strenuous or monotonous. Instead, if you find something fun to do, you can enjoy your exercise time. It's a great way to spend time with your family, either outdoors or in the gym. You can play together and burn calories at the same time. The body was made to be used, not to sit all day long. Only by incorporating regular exercise into your day can you help combat the high fat foods that are a part of our diets today. With a little bit of effort, you can be a happier, healthier person who feels great about your looks!
