Chinese New Year Styles Start With Festive Charm Bracelets

Chinese New Year is more than just one day and it actually has a different date each and every year. This is because Chinese New Year is actually on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar, which is different than the traditional western 12 month calendar. Generally the celebration is between the middle of January and the middle of February in most years. There are actually several different events, including the Spring Festival celebration that actually occurs during this time. Charm bracelets that focus in on traditional Chinese New Year's items are a great way to get into the spirit of this much loved holiday. These charm bracelets, like all bracelets, can continue to be added to each year.

Gold, with its rich history of use in Chinese art and decoration, is the perfect metal for Chinese New Year's charm bracelets. Of course silver can also be used to celebrate the 15 days of the Chinese New Year Festival. Since each day is something different, consider a separate charm for each of the days, with the final day represented by a lantern style of charm.

The Chinese calendar has each of the 12 years in the cycle represented by an animal. They include the pig, dog, rooster, monkey, sheep, horse, snake, dragon, rabbit, tiger, ox and rat, in reverse order. Charms that include these symbols of the years are great on charm bracelets, or you can just select your year's animal.

Disk styles of charms that feature both the animal as well as your date of birth are a great addition to charm bracelets. Of course actual Chinese styled characters of the animals are both stylish and lovely additions to your bracelet. The other option is to choose a three dimensional charm of the animal and have it engraved for a very personal charm.

Since red is the traditional color for good luck and prosperity, red envelope charms are a real hit on Chinese New Year charm bracelets. In actuality these red envelopes are filled with cash for a great way to welcome in the New Year in China.

Fireworks in charms can be added to charm bracelets since this is such a traditional part of the annual celebration. Some firework charms may have gems or enamel paint to add color and dazzle.

There are many traditional flowers in the celebration and charm bracelets for this time of year can feature chrysanthemums and sunflowers. These two flowers symbolize a long life and a prosperous and good year respectively.

Charm bracelets are a great way to send a personal message, so why not consider adding a disk charm with a message of hope for the future. You can also add charms of the Chinese characters for hope, prosperity and luck either to existing charm bracelets or your own special Chinese New Year bracelet.
