More than seven million visitors flock to downtown Savannah, Georgia every year to enjoy the almost-constant celebrations. Every month features an occasion for revelry, from the Martin Luther King Festival in January, through the world-famous Savannah Music Festival and the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in early spring, to the boisterous fireworks on the Fourth of July. Fall brings international Film Festivals and the start of "Southern Lights", a dazzling display that enchants an international crowd every night from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.

During the winter holiday season, an exciting river parade of festively decorated boats can been seen and historic homes are opened to the public as the town's three hundred years of history are given a personal touch by its residents. And of course, one of the greatest New Year's Eve parties in the world can be enjoyed on the streets of downtown Savannah.

Festive visitors happily attest to the delights of a Savannah, Georgia vacation without ever leaving the downtown area. There is no need to do so, since the two-and-a-half mile Old Town Historic District encompasses virtually everything a vacationer could desire. As one of the largest National Landmark Historic Districts in the country, this section of Georgia's capital city features everything from free trolley tours to guided after-dark walks down ghost-ridden cobblestone streets to exquisite daylight views of fascinating architecture.

Called "The Hostess City of the South" with good reason, the city offers activities, entertainment, and accommodations for every budget and every season, all bursting with warmth and true southern hospitality. Whether your taste runs to high-end luxury hotels or a cozy bed and breakfast, downtown Savannah is the place to find it. From gourmet meals at fine-dining establishments to finger sandwiches at quaint old-fashioned tearooms, you can find precisely what you're looking for. As the first city to be laid out to plan, each of its twenty-two squares offers a unique glimpse of the past as well as any modern convenience one might require.

A leisurely stroll under the Spanish moss-draped live oak trees will take you from five-star restaurants to exclusive boutiques to Broadway Musical productions at the Savannah Theatre. Souvenirs and unique small restaurants abound at the restored City Market, which includes two large plazas that invite exploration.

Honeymooning couples will find new meaning in the word "romance" in homey hotels or when strolling along the quiet streets and among the parks and fountains of its famous squares. Year round mild climate makes a Savannah, Georgia vacation perfect for families of any size and is sure to deliver a deeply satisfying experience for people of any age.
