Comcast, the nations' leading cable provider plans to bring TV to smartphone devices such as BlackBerry Cell Phones. It is one of several moves from different company that shows the smartphone industry growing at a remarkable rate as well as becoming more and more innovative. It is a part of a push by Comcast cable to offer more mobile services, specifically ones geared towards the smartphone market, like Blackberry Cell Phones. The idea is to get on the ground floor expanding technologies enabled on smartphones and to grow from there.

Already there are a few devices with similar ideas. Some are TV phones that allow you to watch TV right on the phone, Blackberry cell phones with TiVo capability, movie rental capability via live streaming video, and many others. This however is unique as it comes from a leading provider of cable television and could likely be packaged in a variety of ways. It could be offered with Comcast cable, offered as a separate entity or even on an as needed basis. The possibilities don't stop there. There could be potential for certain shows, channels, types of programs etc. The market is big for Comcast in the smartphone industry that the CFO of Comcast, Michael Angelakis said, "I can envision sometime in the future On Demand Online having a wireless component." That would be just complete multimedia at ones fingertips. Movies, Television, Comedy, Music, Previews, Games and a plethora of other capabilities right in ones pocket on a blackberry cell phone and other smartphones.

It is clear that the cell phone industry is rapidly becoming the smartphone industry. With that come more technology, partnerships and more possibilities. The phone component of smartphones has officially become the blandest aspect of the phone itself. But that is not a reason for these companies to neglect that aspect. No, there have been cases of feature rich handsets that, because of poor call quality and coverage, have not done well despite the amazing amenities it contains. So it is important that while these devices become more and more appealing with more ridiculous feature sets that makers keep these devices quality in terms of coverage and call quality.

Beyond that it is great to see what the blackberry cell phone has become. It is a playground for mobile technology and it seems as though it will continue to get better with time. And really it doesn't even need much time for it seems every week a new and wonderful feature has been added to an already exciting device.
