If you purchase dedicated servers that supply more than your requirements, you'll squander both money and server resources. Alternately if your server hosting package doesn't fulfil your needs, your website's reliability and speed can be negatively affected. Think about why you want a hosting package. A dedicated server package for instance has a physical server reserved exclusively for your use. The benefit to dedicated servers is that you can configure them in any way you want and you are free to install anything you want on them as well. Only you are allowed to use the RAM and CPU resources on a dedicated server and the server can host one or multiple websites. Dedicated servers are good for experienced administrators but if you don't want the responsibility of maintaining it you should choose another option. An important aspect to consider is customer service. Check if your dedicated windows hosting provides round-the-clock support at no extra charge over the phone. Consider for example a business website; if it crashes or doesn't function properly for whatever reason, you need quick support to get it up and functioning well again and the longer it's down the more potential revenue you are losing. Determine whether the host candidates have positive feedback on the whole. You can locate feedback through blogs, online forums, et cetera. The space that your site uses on the internet is referred to as bandwidth. If your site doesn't have a lot of traffic then you won't need a lot of bandwidth. Your website can grow to exceed the bandwidth supplied with your package, which will lead to the site crashing. Hence you should research how much bandwidth comes with a server hosting package and whether the cost to increase it is reasonable if the time comes when you need greater bandwidth. A server hosting package may come with bonus features or services. For instance logo design or website creation can be extra services offered. Sometimes it's not a good idea to take these additional features or services as they may not be in an area of expertise for the server host and will therefore not be great quality. However sometimes you do get quality additional features/services offered by the host or the host can arrange a discount with another company who offers the services or features. You might therefore be able to save money choosing a package that has additional features you're after as opposed to getting these features elsewhere. The price of the package is an important factor to consider but it is not the main factor that should be considered. You should base your decision on whether the package covers your needs and has reliable customer service. It can be exasperating having a cheaper package that does not cover your requirements or that has bad customer service. You will lose money if your business website stops functioning correctly because you don't have sufficient resources or the technical support to quickly get it up and running again. You should compare the prices of server hosting packages that do cover your needs though, as you can save money by finding everything you need cheaper in one package than in another.
