As humans, we can recall things much easier after we’ve made a visual connection to them. This idea is a major one in the advertising world. The most successful ad campaigns today use eye-catching visuals, graphics, and text, with vivid colors, all of which play off our senses and get our memory going.

Poster printing is the perfect way to create buzz about your business and increase brand awareness, a crucial element in the longevity of any company. If you’ve decided to spend money on poster printing, it’s important that you understand what a makes a poster successful, and what is a recipe for disaster.

Here are a few tips to lead you to success with your poster printing design.

1) Keep it simple. It’s a fact that when you print posters, the more information and text you have jumbled on them, the less effective the message going to be. Often times, because there’s more space to work with in large format printing, many people feel compelled to fill the entire space with information. Posters shouldn’t be used for complex messages. You have to think about the viewer. More than likely they’ll be hurrying by. This means that an image with a small amount of compelling text is much more likely to attract interest in your business. If the design is messy or there is too much that the passer-by has to read, the less likely they’re willing to take in and absorb the message.

2) Design with the size in mind. Sometimes, a design that looks fantastic on a flyer may not look so great on a poster. With that in mind it’s best to design your poster with the size in mind. Think about how you can utilize space without over doing it. For large format printing, a single strong image should be used.

3) Colors are important. When working with text, it’s been effective to use dark text on a light background. This is easier to read and really catches your eye a lot more. Another key thing to think about with text is to make sure the font is large enough so it can be read from a distance.

4) Use short punchy sentences. Your audience doesn’t have time to read long sentences and paragraphs. Optimize the use of bullet points. Bullets really draw your eyes into the information and by using them, you can control what you the passer-by to read. It’s also best to leave a lot of space between sentences for easier reading. Cramped text hurts people’s eyes and they probably won’t bother reading it.

5) Use color to highlight key information. Much like using bullet points, using color on the information that you want to stand out to the reader, really helps guide their eyes and helps them remember certain words.

6) Don’t fade into the background. Well-designed print posters are versatile tools that can really brand your company and bring awareness to your brand. There fore, if you want the best results, you should get a consultation with a professional poster printing company.
