Xbox 360 Power Cord: Powering The "Magic Eye"

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=32

An Xbox 360 Power Cord is probably the most overlooked of all Xbox 360 accessories. Yet it is the very first thing that is activated, the very first step of a fun-filled gaming session. After all, it is what transmits the necessary "juice" to fuel all those adventures! Along with an Xbox 360 Power Brick, the power cord is what makes everything - and that's literally everything - possible. The Xbox 360 Power Supply must be robust to handle the electronic rigors of modern gaming today. Without the proper equipment, your system might as well be a toaster.

But who thinks of such things when it comes to electronic entertainment? The humble Xbox 360 power cord isn't very sexy, to be sure. In an age of immersive experiences and online slaughter-fests, something like the Xbox 360 power brick doesn't sound like anything to brag about. Gamers, particularly those with an interest in personal computing (the Xbox is, at heart, a personal computer gushed up as a gaming console, after all, love to talk about hardware, and mentioning a nice new Xbox 360 power supply system doesn't quite titillate anyone. It's not like getting Microsoft's upcoming "magic eye," for example.

Basically an electronic eye mounted separately from the console, this device will continuously relay spatial data to the console for use with software incorporating human kinetics in its game play. So no more hand-held controllers, even wireless - this is the ultimate controller, the ultimate wireless peripheral of them all: your very own body! Yes, your motions will be captured and translated into onscreen actions accordingly, for the kind of immersive experience only imagined by science fiction and comic books - until now. Due on the market in another year or two, this device will even track your eyeball movements! Thus will the line be further blurred between man and machine as the user becomes the user interface himself. Imagine playing a first-person shooter like Halo or Medal of Honor where turning your head right causes your onscreen perspective to change accordingly, with scenery rightwards of your alter ego viewed in keeping with your off-screen real-world movements! More than any hardware controller possible, this soon-to-come device will by itself redefine video gaming. So while today's Xbox 360 games are quite advanced, the Xbox accessories on the horizon will require software that rethinks the whole onscreen/off-screen divide. Hardware and software exist in a symbiotic relationship, and it will be interesting to see what transpires next now that the hardware has taken a quantum leap forward!

Which brings us back to the humble nondescript power supply, no matter how fancy everything gets, reliable juice is the first requirement of any operation. And a good solid power brick and strong power cord will continue to be integral to the reality of next-generation gaming - until the advent of Tesla-like wireless electricity! Which is actually available today - in very limited ways...but that's another article.
